Answer :-

Let the age of son be x.

Father' age = 3x

→ Son's age = x - 10

→ Father's age = 3x - 10

According to the question :-

→ 3x - 10 = 5.5 ( x - 10 )

→ 3x - 10 = 5.5x - 55

→ 5.5x - 3x = 55 - 10

→ 2.5x = 45

→ x = 45 / 2.5

→ x = 18

  • Father's age = 3 × 18 = 54

Age of father = 54 years

Given :

  • The father is thrice as old as his son 10 years ago the fathers age was 5.5 times the son's age.

To Find :

  • Present age of Father

Solution :

Let,

  • Present age of son = b
  • Present age of father = 3b

Before 10 years :

  • Age of son = b - 10
  • Age of father = 3b - 10

According to the Question :

⟶⠀Age of Father = 5.5 × Age of Son

⟶⠀3b - 10 = 5.5 (b - 10)

⟶⠀3b - 10 = 5.5b - 55

⟶⠀55 - 10 = 5.5b - 3b

⟶⠀45 = 2.5b

⟶⠀45/2.5 = b

⟶⠀18 = b

Therefore :

  • Present age of Father = 3b
  • Present age of Father = 3 × 18
  • Present age of Father = 54years
