Required Answer :
Length of the rectangular plot = 385 metre
Given :
- Fence of a rectangular plot = 920 units
- Length of the rectangular plot is 10 more than 5 times its breadth
To find :
- Length of the rectanglular plot
Solution :
Fencing is done to the boundaries and perimeter is the sum of all the sides/boundaries. So, the fence of a rectangular plot = Perimeter of the rectangular plot.
• Perimeter of the rectangular plot = 920 units
Let,
- Breadth of the rectanglular plot = x metre
- Length of the rectanglular plot = 5x + 10 metre
Formula of perimeter of rectangle :
- Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)
where,
- l denotes the length of the rectangle
- b denotes the breadth of the rectangle
Substituting the given values :
⇒ 920 = 2(x + 5x + 10)
⇒ 920 = 2(6x + 10)
⇒ 920/2 = 6x + 10
⇒ 460 = 6x + 10
⇒ 460 - 10 = 6x
⇒ 450 = 6x
⇒ 450/6 = x
⇒ 75 = x
Substituting the value of x :
LENGTH :
⇒ Length of the rectangular plot = 5x + 10
⇒ Length of the rectangular plot = 5(75) + 10
⇒ Length of the rectangular plot = 375 + 10
⇒ Length of the rectangular plot = 385 metre
