Answer:

Perimeter of the rectangle = 2(l+b) = 2(40+60) units = 200 units.

Area= l*b = (40*60)sq.unit = 2400 sq. unit

ATQ, perimeter of the square = 4 S = 200 units

=> S = 200/4 units = 50 units

Area= s^2 = 50^2 = 2500 sq. unit

Clearly, the area of the square shaped field is greater. ( Answer )

Step-by-step explanation:

perimeter of the rectangle = 2(L+B)

perimeter of the rectangle = 2×(60+40)

2 × 100 = 200 metres

perimeter of square = 200 ( same as rectangle )

side of square = (perimeter ÷ sides of square)

= 200 ÷ 4

= 50

one side of square is 50.

area of rectangle = L × B = 40 × 60

area of rectangle is 2400 sq.

area of square = side × side

= 50×50 = 2500

therefore, square has larger area than rectangle.
