Aim of the experiment is to demonstrate that oxygen is liberated during photosynthesis and at the end of experiment is it proved.

Experimental procedure:

In beaker fill the water and keep the Hydrilla plant.

cover the base of the plant cut end with an neck of the inverted funnel.

Keep complete apparatus in sunlight for certain period of time.

Observation:  

During the procedure we can observe that bubbles are coming out from the cut ends of the plant continuously  and bubbles are collected at the top of the test tube and gradually water is replace with air.

Results:

It is confirmed that evolved gas is oxygen from testing and oxygen is evolved by the breaking down of water during photosynthesis.
