The figure given shows a card in the shape of a parallelogram. A circular hole is cut in the card. From the information given, calculate the area of the shaded region. (use ℼ = 3.14)

To calculate the area of the shaded region we have to subtract the area of the circular paper cut from the area of the parallelogram card :

Step 1 : Calculate the area of the parallelogram

a = h \times b

11 \times 6 = 66 \: c {m}^{2}

Step 2 : Area of the circle

r = 2 \: cm

a = \pi {r}^{2}

3.14 \times  {2}^{2}  = 3.14 \times 4  \\  = 12.56 \: c {m}^{2}

Step 3 : Find the shaded region

66 - 12.56 = 53.44 \: c {m}^{2}
