The filament of a bulb is made of tungsten which has high resistance. Due to this high resistance, heat is produced in the filament which makes it glow and emit light. The connecting wires are made of conducting materials with low resistance due to which no heat it generated and it does not glow.

when a electric current is pass through a high resistance where,it becomes very hot and produces heat .

heating elements are made up of nichrome alloy when connected to supply line produces large amount of heat due to very high resistance but a negligible heat is produce in a connecting wire [very low resistance].

hope this will help u....
