If the given terms are in A.P then the common difference must be same.

i.e a2- a1 = a3- a2

3y + 5 - ( 3y- 1) = 5y + 1 - ( 3y+ 5)
3y + 5 - 3y + 1 = 5y + 1 - 3y - 5

cancelling 3y in L.H.S

6 = 2y - 4

6+ 4 = 2y

10 = 2y

y = 5

hope this helps if so mark as brainliest.

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

a = 3y-1

T2 = a+d

= 3y + 5

So, d= 3y+5-(3y-1)

d=3y-3y+5+1 = 6

Also, d = 5y+1 -(3y+5)

So, 5y+1-(3y+5) = 6

5y-3y +1-5 = 6

2y -4 =6

2y = 10

y= 5
