SOLUTION

GIVEN

The first consumer of a gas agency was allotted with registration number as 1273688 and the second consumer as 1273689

TO DETERMINE

The registration number for the thousandth consumer

EVALUATION

Here it is given that the first consumer of a gas agency was allotted with registration number as 1273688 and the second consumer as 1273689

So the given registration numbers are 1273688 , 1273689

So the numbers are in Arithmetic Progression

First term = a = 1273688

Common Difference = d = 1

Hence the registration number for the thousandth consumer

= 1000 th term of the AP

= a + ( 1000 - 1 ) d

= a + 999d

= 1273688 + ( 999 × 1 )

= 1273688 + 999

= 1274687
