Let the five terms of the AP be as follows:-

(a-2d) , (a-d) , a , (a+d) , (a+2d)

As you can see, these five terms are in AP.

Lets add them up

(a-2d) + (a-d) + a + (a+d) + (a+2d) = 240

5a = 240

a = 48.

Since a is the third term,

the answer is 48
