Sir Syed Ahmed Khan was the first Indian to have written in an Indian language on the causes of the Revolt of 1857. In 1859, Sir Syed published the booklet Asbab-e-Baghawat-e-Hind (The Causes of the Indian Revolt) in which he studied the causes of the Indian revolt.
