The first ionization energy of H and He are 13.6ev and 24.6ev respectively.how much energy would be given out during the formation of ground state of He atom from He +2 nucleus if it combines with two electrons?

The first IE means energy rqd to remove electron from the last shell of an atom. In case of He the energy emmited out on absorbing two electron and coming back to ground state = 2x delta E = 2 x ( E2 - E1) = (- 24.6) - (-24.6/4) = 6. 15 eV.
