The First Psychological laboratory in India was established at Calcutta University.
- Under the direction of Dr N.N. Sen Gupta, the first psychology department and laboratory in India were founded in 1916 at Calcutta University (Dalal A. K. & Misra A., 2010).
- He was an Indian psychologist, philosopher, and professor with a Harward education. In India, he is regarded as the father of contemporary psychology, along with Gunamudian Davi Boaz.
- The Indian Psychoanalytical Society was founded in 1922 by Dr Girindra Shekar Bose, who replaced Dr N.N. Sengupta at Calcutta University, thanks to his close friendship and support of Sigmund Freud.
- The International Psychoanalytic Association is linked with it (Jain, 2005). (Dalal, 2011). Girindra Shekar Bose is recognised as the first PhD student in the discipline of psychology from India. In Calcutta, he earned a PhD in the "idea of repression."
