Step-by-step explanation:

Formula for simple interest : SI = P x r x n

where P = principle amount

r = rate of interest

n = number of year

In 3 years, the total money = P + SI = P + P x r x n = P ( 1+3r)

Given, P(1+3r) =4745  -- equation#1

similarly, in 5 years , P(1+5r) = 5745 -- equation#2

Divide equation#1 and 2 ,

1149 + 3447 r = 949 + 4745 r

1298r = 200

r = 0.15 i.e rate of interest is 15%

Substitute this value in equation#1

P ( 1+0.45) = 4745

P = 3272.41 is the principle amount.
