Given :- The first, second and third terms in a continue proportion are 51,85 and 57. Find the fourth term. ?

Solution :-

Let us assume that, the fourth term is x .

then,

→ 51 : 85 :: 57 : x .

→ Product of means = Product of extremes .

→ 51 * x = 85 * 57

→ 17 * 3 * x = 17 * 5 * 19 * 3

dividing both sides by 17,

→ 3x = 5 * 19 * 3

dividing both sides by 3 now,

→ x = 95 .

Hence, Fourth term is 95 .
