Phosphoglycerate (3-PGA)

Explanation:

  • PGA is a three-carbon compound that this why the mechanism of photosynthesis is called as C3 Cycle.
  • In all the photosynthetic plants, Calvin pathway occurs, the CO2 fixation cycle.  Carbon dioxide reacts with ribulose−1, 5− bisphosphate (RuBP) to generate a transient intermediate compound.
  • The intermediate compound further splits up instantly (in the presence of water) to form molecules of 3- phosphoglycerate (PGA) which is the first stable product of photosynthesis.
  • Also it is a biochemically important metabolic intermediate compound involved in both the glycolysis and the Calvin cycle.
