The first woman governor of Indian state was Sarojini Naidu. She was  also the first Indian woman to become the president of the Indian National Congress.  She became the governer of Uttar Pradesh. There is a hostel for girls in Aligarh Muslim University on her name.

Sarojini Naidu,a famous freedom fighter,famously known as the ''Nightingale of India'' was the first woman to be the governor of an indian state(west bengal).
