The floor of a building consists of 2000 tiles which are rhombus shaped and, the lengths of its diagonals are 60 cm and 40 cm. Find the cost of polishing the floor, if the cost per m² is Rs 3.50.

║⊕ANSWER⊕║

GIVEN

No : of tiles = 2000

Let d₁ and d₂ be the diagonals of the rhombus

d₁ = 60 cm = 0.6 m

d₂ = 40 cm = 0.4 m

Area of 1 rhombus shaped tile = 1/2 * d₁ * d₂

                                                  = 1/2 * 0.6 * 0.4

                                                  = 0.12 m²

Area of the floor = 0.12 * 2000

                           = 240 m²

Cost of polishing the floor  = 240 * 3.50

                                             = 840 Rs.

We Have :-

Floor of a building consists of 2000 tiles

Rhombus shaped and the lengths of its diagonals are 60 cm and 40 cm

Cost per m² is Rs 3.50

To Find :-

Find the cost of polishing the floor

Formula Used :-

Area\ of\ Rhombus\ = \dfrac{1}{2}*diagonal_{1}*diagonal_{2}

Solution :-

Area = \dfrac{1}{2}*60*40\\   \\=30*40\\\\= 1200 cm^{2}

Area = 1200 cm² = 0.12 m²

Area of 2000 tiles = 0.12 * 2000

                               = 240 m²

Cost of :-

1 m² = Rs 3.50

240 m² = Rs 3.50 * 240

          = Rs 840

Cost of Polishing = Rs 840
