Answer:

The length of the carpet required is 80 m.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The floor of a hall of dimensions 18 m by 11m is to be covered with a 150cm wide carpet leaving a space of 1.50m all around.

To calculate : The length of the carpet required?

Solution :

Dimension of floor  =  18 m by 11 m

Width of carpet =  150 cm  =  1.5 m

Carpet leaving a space of 1.50 m all around,

Dimension of carpet  = ( 18 - 1.50 - 1.50 ) m  by ( 11 - 1.50 - 1.50 ) m

Dimension of carpet  = 15 m by 8 m

So,

Area of carpet  =  15 × 8  = 120 meter square

Let length of carpet required  =  x

So,

width of carpet × Length of carpet  = 120

1.50x  = 120

x  = 80

Therefore, The length of the carpet required is 80 m.
