width of the floor = 12 m and

cost of flooring per tile = Rs. 80

Step 2. Finding the areas :

Then, area of the floor

= length × width

= 18 × 12 m²

= 216 m²

and the area of each square tile

= 12 × 12 cm²

= 144 cm²

(144 / 10000) m²

Step 3. Finding number of square tiles :

∴ required number of square tiles to pave the floor

= area of the floor / area of each tile

= 216 / (144 / 10000)

= (216 × 10000) / 144

= 15000

Step 4. Finding the cost of flooring :

∴ the cost of flooring at the rate of Rs. 80 per tile

= Rs. (15000 × 80)

= Rs. 1200000
