The floor of a rectangular room measures 16 m by 11 m. the floor has to be tiled with square tiles of length 40 cm. Find the number of tiles required.

\large{\red{\mathcal{GIVEN:–}}}

Length of floor=16m OR 1600cm

Breadth of floor=11m OR 1100cm

Length of square tiles=40cm

\large{\red{\mathcal{FIND:–}}}

The number of tiles required.

\large{\red{\mathcal{SOLUTION:–}}}

AREA OF THE FLOOR=LENGTH × BREADTH

=(1600 × 1100)cm²

=1,760,000cm²

AREA OF A TILE=SIDE × SIDE

=(40 × 40)cm²

=1600cm²

therefore, number of tiles required

=1,760,000/1600

=1,100

\large{\red{\mathcal{ANSWER:–}}}

1100 tiles
