Solution:

Find the area of the rectangular floor.

area of the rectangular floor\[ = 1200{\rm{ }}cm \times 600{\rm{ }}cm\]

Find the area of a tile.

area of the tile\[ = 10{\rm{ }}cm \times 2{\rm{ }}cm\]

Find the number of tiles required.  

no. of tiles\[ = \frac{{1200{\rm{ }}cm \times 600{\rm{ }}cm}}{{10{\rm{ }}cm \times 2{\rm{ }}cm}}\]

                \[\begin{array}{l} = 60 \times 600\\ = 36000\,tiles\end{array}\]

Know that from the question, the cost of tilling 1 tile = Rs.5

Find the cost of tiling the whole floor with 36000 tiles.

Cost of tiling 36000 tiles \[ = 5 \times 36000\]

                                         \[ = Rs.{\rm{ }}180000\]

Hence, the  total expense of tiling the floor if the cost of tiling is Rs. 5 a tile is Rs. 180000.
