8m 96cm = 8 × 100 + 96 = 896 cm

6m 72cm = 6 × 100 + 72 = 672 cm

Side of largest square tile that can be used = HCF of 896 and 672 = 224 cm

Area of the tile = side × side = 224 × 224 cm2

Area of the floor = length × breadth = 896 × 672 cm2

Hence, Minimum number of tiles required = Area of floor/area of tile =

= 32 tiles
