This is so because the fluorescent lamp releases more light energy and less heat energy than that of a filament lamp with the same rating.

The fluorescent lamp of power 60 watt gives more brightness than the filament lamp of same power because -

• In the fluorescent lamp of 60 watt the electricity is directly converted into light energy.

But,

• In the filament bulb of 60 watt the electricity is first converted into heat energy and that heat energy later produces light energy.

• So,in the filament bulb a significant amount of electricity is wasted to generate heat energy.

• That's why a fluorescent lamp of same power produces more light than a filament bulb.
