"The Spider and the Fly" is a beautiful poem written by Mary Howitt. It is about a cunning spider trying to lure a smart fly into its trap and fall its prey.
If I were asked to give a happy ending to the fly, I would make her learn her lesson but let her be free.
“Sweet creature! ” said the Spider, “You’re witty and you’re wise,
How handsome are your gauzy wings, how brilliant are your eyes!”
The fly falls in the spider's trap because it was tricked into its own vanity. The sly fly declined every offer the spider gave her before the spider cunningly praised her beauty.
I would make the fly get trapped in the web but after a few struggle, she would free herself and fly away only to realise her vanity and learn from the experience.
