Answer:20 cm right of mirror

Explanation:

We can assume that point source contains diversion of 40cm(-ve) while convex mirror is also diverging mirror of focal length 40

Now try to get this, -1/40 -1/40=-1/20

In this mirrors divergence and object's divergence add to give image at 20cm right to mirror.

Or you can simply solve by applying mirror formula i.e 1/u+1/v=1/f. With sign covention.

-1/40 + 1/v = +1/40

1/v = +1/20

i.e 20 to the right of mirror virtual and diminished.

Thanks
