the focal length of a diverging lens is 20 cm. calculate the power of the lens.

DibyarchanaParichha: plz write it soon
DibyarchanaParichha: what's the correct answer 5 or -5
NAVEENIIT: - 5
DibyarchanaParichha: ok
NAVEENIIT: because power of concave lens is negative
DibyarchanaParichha: Ok thanks bhaiya

⏩ FOCAL LENGTH = 20 cm =
0.2 m

⏩ POWER OF LENS = 1 / FOCAL LENGTH

⏩ POWER OF LENS = 1 / - 0.2

⏩ POWER OF LENS = - 5 D

Hi.

Here is your answer---

__________________

Given---

Focal length = 20 cm.

Using the Formula,

Power of the Lens = 100/Focal Length in cm.
                              = 100/20
                              = 5 D

Since the lens is diverging, the Power of the Lens will be negative i.e., - 5 Diopter.
