Here u=(-40)cm,f=(-120)cm.

1/v+1/u=1/f

=>1/v=1/f-1/u

=1/(-120)-(-1/40)

=(1/40)-1/120

=1/60

=>v=60cm.

so,

magnification=60/(-40)=-1.5

=>the image is virtual,magnified, erect.
