Answer:

Given: Focus of parabola is (-2,1) and the has equation x + y = 3

To find: Its vertex

Solution:

p = (-2,1)

directrix (x + y = 3)

y = x + 3 _______(1)

slope m = -1

MQP = 1

y - 1 = 1 (x+2)

y - 1 = x +2

y = x + 3. ______(ii)

adding I and ii

2y = 6

y = 3

q=(0,3) p (-2,1)

R is mid point of pq, n= 0 - 2/ 2, k= 3+1/2

n = -1 , k= 2

hence vertex is (-1,2)
