Given Data,

18, 20,25,26,30,x,37,38,39,48

Number of observations = 10 .
Median = (10/2 th term + (10+1/2)th term) /2 = 30+x/2 .

But, Given Median = 30+x/2 = 35

30 + x = 70

x = 40 .

=========================================

If 48 is changed to 28 , then the order of data becomes

18, 20,25,26,28 ,30,x,37,38,39.

Now, Median = 28 + 30 / 2 = 58/2 = 29 .

Hope helped!
