∴ x+y=16 ---- ( 1 )

and 7+y=20

∴ y=20−7

∴ y=13cm

Substituting y=13 in equation ( 1 ) we get,

⇒ x+13=16

⇒ x=16−13

∴ x=3cm

∴ x=3cm and y=13cm
