Answer :- x = 3 and y = 13

Given :- RUNS is a parallelogram

RN and SU are the diagonal of parallelogram RUNS

Let us consider point of intersection of diagonal be O

SO = 20 cm

RO = 16 cm

NO = x + y

UO = y + 7

We need to find :- x and y

Explanation :-

RUNS is a parallelogram

We known, diagonal of parallelogram bisect each other

Therefore, SO = OU = 20 cm

RO = ON = 16 cm

y + 7 = 20 [ Diagonals of parallelogram bisect each other therefore, SO = OU]

y = 20 - 7

y = 13

Substituting y = 13 in x + y = 16

x + y = 16

x + 13 = 16

x = 16 - 13

x = 3

To verify whether the value of x and y are true let substitute in the both equation

We known known that y + 7 = 20

y = 13

13 + 7 = 20

We also known that y = 13 and x = 3

x + y = 16

3 + 13 = 16
