The following force act on an object : 13.5N towards west , 21.2N towards east, 33.0N towards east and 25.3N towards west . Calculate the net force acting on the object

Assign positive direction to the West directed forces then that also means negative direction has automatically been assigned to East directed forces . Now their sum with sign convention :-

F = +13.5N -21.2N -33N +25.3N

F = +38.8N -54.2N

F = -15.4N

Which means 15.4N towards East .
