x+y=29----------------(1)

Mean=\frac{\sum f_ix_i}{\sum f_i}

Where, mean = 8 , \sum f_i=64 and \sum f_ix_i=258+6x+10y

8=\frac{258+6x+10y}{64}

6x+10y=254----------------(2)

Now we have two equation of x and y to solve for x and y using elimination method.

6x+6y=174

6x+10y=254

4y=80

y=20

x+20=29

x=9

Thus, The value of x is 9 and y is 20.
