Given : graph showing a proportional relationship.

To Find : constant of proportionality between y and x in the graph

Solution:

From the graph for

x = 1   , y = 3.5

x = 2  , y = 7

y ∝ x

=> y = kx

substituting x = 1   , y = 3.5

=> 3.5 = k (1)

=> k = 3.5

Hence Value of k is 3.5

substituting x = 2   , y = 7

=>7= k (2)

=> k = 3.5

Hence Value of k is 3.5

Constant of proportionality k  =  3.5
