Racemic mixture will be given by 2 chlorobutane as it is an optically active

compound.

When 2 chlorobutane undergoes SN 1 reaction, both front and rear attack are

possible, resulting in a racemic mixture

Answer:

if the haloalkanes are hydrolysed in presence of aq KOH

(i) 1 chlorobutane (ii) 2 chloro 2 methyl propane which of the above is most likely to give ...

#the 1-chlorobutane will give the inverted  product.  as it goes under SN² reaction mechanism.

#the SN2 reaction involves displacement of a leaving group , by a nucleophile

#Solvents: Protic solvents such as water and alcohols stabilize the nucleophile

#Nucleophiles: A good nucleophile is required since it is involved in the rate-determining step.

#the inverted  mixture is given by 2 chloro 2 methyl propane.
