x + 2 , 72 , 78 , 84 , 95
Number of observations ( n ) = 10
median = average ( n/2 , n/2 + 1 )th terms
= Ave ( 5th ,6th ) terms
= ( x + x + 2 )/2
= ( 2x + 2 )/2
= x + 1 -----( 1 )
median = 63 ----( 2 ) given
from ( 1 ) & ( 2 ) , we get
x + 1 = 63
x = 62
