Given : Observations have been arranged in ascending order :

29, 32, 48, 50, x, x+2, 72, 78, 84, 95

 Median of the data is 63.

Number of observations, (n)  = 10 (even)

Median = ½[value of (n/2)th + (n/2 +1)th observations]

63 = ½ [value of (10/2 th + (10/2 + 1 th) observations]

63 = ½ [value of (5th + 6th) observations]

63 = ½ (x + x + 2)

63 × 2 = 2x + 2

126 = 2x + 2

2x = 126 - 2

2x = 124

x = 124/2

x = 62

Hence, the value of x is 62.
