Joad believed that men and women invent machines for save time , so that we might devoted ourselves to the higher things of life. Unfortunately, instead of this,we use that time for making much and better machines. To be really civilised,Joad says,we should used this time but energy for making more beautiful,in finding out more about the universe,at removing the causes of quarrels between nations,or in discovering how to prevent poverty.​
