Answer:

underlined sentence:

It is as if a child spent its life in darkness in bed, in nothing to see or hear.

Correct sentence:

It is as if a child spent its life in darkness on bed, with nothing to see or hear.

Explanation:

here ,

the underlined sentence was - in bed, in nothing to see or hear.

so, we had corrected the errors and rephrased the sentence by omitting "in" and putting "on" at the place

and by omitting " in nothing" and correcting it as " with nothing" .

after correcting all the errors we had rephrased the sentence as -

it is as if a child spent its life in darkness on bed, with nothing to see or hear.

The proper and main reason for the omition of those words is nothing but to make a meaningful sentence . And every sentence which doesn't provide a meaning and sense to the reader is not considered as a sentence.
