The following species will not exhibit disproportionation

reaction

(d) ClO₄⁻

We have to calculate the oxidation state of Cl in each of the species.

In ClO₄⁻, let us consider the oxidation no. of Cl to be 'x'.

x + 4(-2) = -1

⇒ x -8 = -1

⇒ x = 8 - 1

⇒ x = 7

The oxidation state of +7 is the highest for Cl. It cannot increase its state more than 7, it can only reduce.

So, this species wont exhibit disproportionate reactions.

Option (d) is correct.
