The following subsequent readings were taken with a level and 4m staff at a common interval of 15m. The first reading was taken at BM having RL = 275m. The instrument was shifted after 4th and 9th readings. Rule out the page of level book by entering the readings given and also calculate RL of the points. Also apply arithmetic checks. Readings are : 1.88m, 2.55m, 1.62m, 1.57m, 3.12m, 2.86m, 2.48m, 1.85m, 1.72m, 1.39m, 2.65m, 1.94m, 1.62m and 0.85m

The readings Taken on a Dummy level at an interval of 30 m on a continuous sloping ground.

& (b) Level book readings entries and reduction in Levels by collimation method are given in the table below-

 

[Note: Readings are given consecutive and without change in station point. So, the first reading is BS and the Last reading is FS. The rest of the readings are IS. First Point is given as BM with RL=80.750m. Collimation method is also known as the Height of instrument method, where the height of the instrument is given by HI= RL of BM+BS and RL’s of other points is RL= HI-IS/FS. Here IS will be used for intermediate points and FS will be used for the last Point observation. Height of Instrument will remain same throughout as instrument is not shifted from the first point.]
