Salt Satyagraha began with the Dandi March on March 12, 1930 and was the part of the first phase of the Civil Disobedience Movement. ... He reached Dandi on April 6, 1930, and broke the salt law.

The salt law was broke due to Civil Disobedience movement launched by Gandhi in 1930 .
The first significant event of this movement was salt March which is also known as "Dandi March" . Gandhi started his "Dandi March" on 12 of March , 1930.
In Dandi March, Gandhi along with some of his followers started their journey from Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi (A village near west coast) . Their he produced salt illegally. After that movement spread and salt law were challenged in different parts of the country.
Later on under GANDHI -IRWIN PACT the right to produce salt was given to Indians
