The formula for electrical resistance is -R=rho*l /A (i.e resistance is directly proportional to length(l) and inversely proportional to area(A).Then when in the following question -Masses of three copper wires are in the ratio of 1:3:5 and their lengths are in the ratio of 5:3:1 . The ratio of their electricsl resistances are? In the solution of the above stated question why is the formula given as-R is directly proportional to l^2 and inversely proportional to m (mass) used.When R is directly proportional to Length then why here it's given as l^2?
