Dear Ramanand,

◆ Answer -

MCl3

◆ Explaination -

Let x be the oxidation state of metal M.

Total charge on the molecule is given as sum of oxidation number of all entities.

In M2(SO4)3,

2(x) + 3(-2) = 0

2x - 6 = 0

x = +3

As valency of metal M is +3, one M+ ion will react with three Cl- ions to form MCl3.

Hope this helped you.
