Answer:

Multiply the three measurements together to find the volume using either paper and pencil or a calculator. This is the equation: Volume = length x width x height. For example, if the measurements of your prism are 6 inches, 5 inches and 4 inches, the equation would look like this: Volume = 6 x 5 x 4.

Answer: The formula to find the volume of three dimensional surface is given by : LENGTH × WIDTH × HEIGHT.

EXPLANATION :

3 - Dimensional surface : Any surface with 3 dimensions such as length , width (breadth), height is a 3-D surface. ex., Cube, Prism, Sphere, Cylinder.

Volume of 3-D surface : Space or area enclosed inside of any perticular 3-D  surface is volume of that perticular 3-D surface.

As Cube and Prism do have Length and Width, there volume can be measured by this formula but 3-D surfaces like Sphere and Cylinder do not have such dimensions due to circular nature.

Hence, for such 3-D surfaces different formulae are used,

  • Volume of Sphere : 4/3 πr³    where r is Radius.
  • Volume of Cylinder : πr²h       where r is Radius, h is Height.
  • Volume of Cube : a³                where is a is legth of each side as legth, width, height is same for cube.
  • Volume of Prism :  l × b × h.     where l is Length, b is width, h is height.
