The four successive ionization energy of an element are 900, 1760, 14850, 21000 kj/mol. The number of valence electron is. (a) 1 (b) 2 (c) 3 (d) 4. Correct ans is (b) can anyone explain me why it is so in detail​

My teacher taught me a easy method to know , and I will let u know this:-

The method is:-

1760/900=1.92

but 14850/1760=8.4

so ,here the trend breaks ...

Here trend means we have to divide the next given ionisation number with the preceded one...

for example the four ionisation energy of an element be 2,4,8,18

we will get to know valency by :-4/2=2,8/4=2 but 18/8 is not 4 or not so nearest so, the valency will be 3 as the trend continues till 2,4,8...so here like this we will check in the question that u gave.
