a frequency of 512Hz means one peak of sound is seperated by a time period of 1/512 sec

similarly for other frequency it is 1/516 sec

so the time interval between two consecutive beat is the difference between timeperiod of both frequencies.

that is 1/512-1/516

Given that,

Frequencies produced by sources of sound are 512 Hz and 516 Hz when sounded together.

To find,

The time interval between two consecutive beats.

Solution,

When f = 512 Hz, time period is :

T_1=\dfrac{1}{512}=0.001953\ s

When f = 516 Hz, time period is :

T_2=\dfrac{1}{516}=0.001937\ s

The time interval between two consecutive beats is :

T_1-T_2=0.00195-0.001937=0.000013\\\\T_1-T_2=1.3\times 10^{-5}\ s

So, the time interval between two consecutive beats is 1.3\times 10^{-5}\ s.
