• Velocity of sound in air = 340m/s
• Number of vibrations = 50
To find :-
• Distance travelled by the sound
Solution:-
We know that distance travelled by the wave in one vibration is it's
wavelength (λ) .
Thus distance covered by the wave when it executes 50 vibrations :-
=> d = 50×λ
=> d = 50λ ----(1)
Now, we know that :-
λ = υ/ν ----(2)
Where :-
• λ is the wavelength.
• υ is the velocity of sound.
• ν is the frequency.
From, eq.1 and eq.2, we get :-
=> d = 50(υ/ν)
=> d = 50(340/500)
=> d = 50×0.68
=> d = 34 m
Thus, the sound travels a distance
of 34m .
