The Fun they Had
There were a group of friends who were known as the ‘Inseparables.’ They were always together be it in school or in the locality. They would study together and party together. They always looked happy and seemed to enjoy each other’s company. We often thought them to be aloof and not interested to talk to others. But it was just one incident that changed our minds. Once during a school excursion to an amusement park our bus broke down in the middle of the road. All of us were very disappointed as we had to head back. At that moment, one among the Inseparables shared an idea with us. The teachers also agreed to it. We were already carrying food so we all decided to hold a picnic at the place we had halted. Our bus had broken down near an open field so we decided to set up our picnic there. Together with the Inseparables we had a lot of fun. One of them being a music lover was carrying a karaoke set. All of us took opportunities to sing our heart out. We also played many games and enjoyed thoroughly. This was followed by a delicious lunch. We shared the food we had brought with each other and then continued with our chats, games and fun. The Inseparables became close to all of us. They were friendlier than what we had thought before. When that misunderstanding got cleared off we spoke more comfortably with each other. It was early evening when the bus was completely repaired and we boarded it to return home. The unexpected picnic turned out to be wonderful so we all decided to name this memorable day. We called it ‘The Fun They Had.’
