SOLUTION

GIVEN

The function \sf{f(x) = 10 \times {2}^{x} } models an insect population after x weeks to the nearest whole number

TO DETERMINE

The population after 4 weeks

EVALUATION

Here it is given that the function \sf{f(x) = 10 \times {2}^{x} } models an insect population after x weeks to the nearest whole number

Now we have to find the population after 4 weeks

So x = 4

Thus we get

 \sf{f(4) = 10  \times   {2}^{4} }

 \sf{ \implies \: f(4) = 10  \times   16}

 \sf{ \implies \: f(4) = 160}

Now 160 is a whole number

Hence the required population after 4 weeks

= 160
